This was my first trip to Nepal, and I honestly had no idea what to expect. We were a group of 11, including our organiser, and I was a little anxious about the whole experience. But from the moment we arrived, the team made us feel comfortable. Babu was there at the airport to welcome us with garlands, which was such a sweet touch. We were also briefed about the Mardi Himal Trek, what to expect on the trail, and a few important do’s and don’ts.
After travelling by road to Pokhara, we finally met the rest of our team. Subash was our lead guide, along with Babu, Vinod and the porters. From our first night at the teahouse, I noticed how much they cared about everyone in the group. They would wait until all of us had finished eating before having their own meals, even the porters. It may sound like a small thing, but I really noticed it.
The trek itself had some difficult sections, especially for those of us who were slower. Whenever I struggled, Subash was there. On some of the steeper parts, he held my hand and helped me through, and many times he even carried my backpack when I was too tired. That kindness really touched me, and it is something I will remember for a very long time.
Subash was also very attentive throughout the trek. He kept an eye on everyone and seemed to notice even the little things. Being in a new country and on unfamiliar trails, that gave us a lot of confidence. Babu and Vinod also worked really well with him, and you could see that they were looking out for the whole group.
A big thank you to Subash, Babu, Vinod and the entire team for making my first Nepal trekking experience so memorable. If I come back to Nepal again, I would definitely ask for the same team. You guys were truly special. God bless you all. 🙏
